OMG, it’s the she-devil! I must defend my mommy!

So I bundled Suki and myself up (yes she has a stylish red coat) for a brisk afternoon walk.  Considering my neighbors hibernate when the temps hit 40s, I was picturing a relaxing Sunday afternoon stroll with my fur baby.  Suki pranced around like she was on cloud 9 in between stopping every so often to check her pee mail messages.  We had a wonderful 40 minute walk and were almost home when it happened.  The devil shih-tzu and one of her ignorant owners decided to head outside.

Now this dog not only loves to bark and lunge at Suki, but her owners insist on walking her on a flexi leash with no control over the demon.  This devil dog ran up and snapped in Suki’s face the first time they met, so I don’t blame Suki for hating her.   I do blame the owners for making every encounter since then a bigger pain in the rear!  They have the mentality that because she’s a little dog, her bad behavior is cute.  Um, little lesson…if you wouldn’t find it cute on a big dog, it’s not cute for your little dog either.  They walk the she-devil right at other dogs, blame the other dog for any reaction, and then try to tell you how to “fix” your dog.  The woman once told me I should teach Suki the “leave it” command.  Um, the only reason your dog isn’t running for her life right now is because Suki knows “leave it”.  How about you teach she-devil the command as well?  I have explained MANY, MANY times that Suki is leash reactive and to not let their dog run at Suki.  These clueless owners still insist on walking she-devil right at Suki and giving the flexi leash more slack, so they can “meet”.  Listen up people…Suki does not want to meet or be friends with your devil shih-tzu!

Being the responsible owner I am, I had training treats with me.  A game of “find it” and the “leave it” command settled Suki down until the she-devil passed…barking and lunging at Suki the whole time.  And yes Mr. she-devil owner, I saw the snippy look you gave me when Suki barked back.  Maybe Santa will bring you a reality check for Christmas this year! I can only hope!
