Does Daylight Savings Time Affect Our Pets?

Hit the snooze!

With Daylights Savings Time (DST)  ending tonight and setting the clocks back an hour, I’m preparing for the inevitable tomorrow…Suki waking me up at an ungodly hour!  Now Suki likes to start her day before I do anyhow, but this whole DST idea has me wondering if tomorrow will be out of pure spite or because she’s affected by the time change. Part of me is leaning towards spite.  🙂

In the interest of fairness, I decided to Google the idea.  I was surprised by the articles I found at http://dogingtonpost.com/daylight-savings-time-and-dogs/ and  http://www.dogster.com/lifestyle/daylight-saving-time-fall-back-dog-behavior.  Turns out DST can affect dogs, and I can’t entirely blame Suki’s early rising on spite.  Aside from explaining DST on pets, these articles offer some great tips to try if your pet needs help handling the time change. Let’s hope they work on Suki!
